About Sandra Miesel Sandra Miesel started reading science fiction at age 11 and became active in science fiction fandom in 1967, honored for her writing, art, and costuming. In 1975, she was an official NASA Artist at the Apollo-Soyuz rocket launch. Since turning professional in 1977, she has analyzed, written, and edited science fiction and fantasy. She knew the artists whose works are being auctioned here. She organized a one-man show for John Schoenherr at Editions Limited Gallery of Indianapolis in 1976 , modeled for illustrations by Frank Kelly Freas in the 1970s and wrote magazine profiles on both men.
