      Josiah Slater (British, 1700-1800) Portrait of Lady Morgan of Tredegar House, with her daugher Miss Morgan, 1825 signed lower right "Josiah Slater 1825" pencil and wash h:27 w: 24 cm Other Notes: Sir Charles Morgan (who became Baron Tredegar in 1859) and his wife Rosamund, an extremely popular couple, had eleven children including Godfrey and Frederic. Both sons inherited their father's love of hunting and skill at horsemanship. Charles bought Godfrey the horse 'Sir Briggs', the charger that performed so well at the Battle of Balaclava. The Morgans daughter in the present painting was later Lady Style. They lived at Tredegar House, Newport, Wales.
