SIGHT SIZE: 12 x 9 inches / 30 x 22 cm FRAME SIZE: 20 x 17 inches / 50 x 43 cm SIGNATURE: lower left CATEGORY: antique vintage painting AD: ART CONSIGNMENTS WANTED. CONTACT US SKU#: 120812 US Shipping $60 + insurance. BIOGRAPHY: George Sloane was born in Salem, Mass. He was educated at the Boston Museum School, where he met and later married fellow artist, Marion Parkhurst (1875-1955).Although few records are available, Sloane exhibited twice at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. In 1896, he exhibited a painting called "Miniature", # 32. In 1898, he exhibited "The Connoisseur", # 407. Sloane also exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute from 1896 to 1898. Like many other American artist of the 19th Century, Sloane traveled to Europe to seek better education. He lived in and studied in Paris from 1899 to 1902. It was during this time that he started signing his paintings with Paris as part of his signature. Sloane was a member of the Providence Art Club where he exhibited his paintings.
