Berndnaut Smilde is a Dutch artist whose multidisciplinary work consists of primarily installations, sculpture and photography. Smilde’s artistic viewpoint often focuses on duality, and through his work he questions the function of materials, and their inherent features and details. He is most famous for his installations of interior clouds, displays that only exist for a finite period of time. He has exhibited his works across the globe, including in the Netherlands, Toronto, Taipei, Dublin, Paris, London and San Francisco. He currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
