Ned Smith Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1919 - d. 1985

Ned Smith, artist and self-trained naturalist, is well-known for his painstakingly detailed wildlife paintings and sketches. His love of wildlife led him to become a Game Commissioner, and after leaving the job in 1953, he began to practice his art full-time. Conservation was still near to his heart, and Ned Smith prints were produced in a series for the Game Commission's Working Together for Wildlife project in Pennsylvania.

In the 1970s, lithographs by Ned Smith appeared in a series, and he often used oil and acrylics to produce vibrant prints of nature scenes. During this period, Ned Smith's prints included one of his most famous works, Dutch Country Bluebirds, which was part of a series created to raise funds for several non-profit nature conservation associations. Due to the popularity of lithographs, there are many fine lithographs for sale at Invaluable.
