"Although landscapes and floral composition are still my objects of artistic interest, currently I'm really into painting urban scenes," said Smykovska. "Artistic inspiration has always been influenced by the surrounding environment and the city obviously generates great visual richness for artists. Having grown up in the core of a major city (Moscow) I have been forever fascinated with the diverse and abundant urban energy of a city and, in artistic terms, a city is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. It's like a giant, magic kaleidoscope of endless visual and inspirational possibilities."

The artist, a graduate of the Moscow Architectural Institute, said her current works reflect her "personal way of looking more closely at the familiar environment that surrounds me."
