Artist Peter Snyder was born in 1944 in Waterloo, Ontario. After studying at the Ontario College of Art, Snyder held his first exhibition in the Mall Gallery in Ottowa. He spent most of the 1960s touring around Europe and America. He was fascinated by the Mennonite culture and way of life in his hometown, and this became a large focus for his work.
