Inhaltsreicher Brief des "Malers der Verschollenen Generation" Herbert Spangenberg (15. Oktober 1907 in Hamburg - 15. August 1984 ebenda). Berichtet über eine Ausstellung von der "im Inn und Ausland überall in überwältigender Weise positiv berichtet" wurde. Erwähnt seine Bilder zu "Tango Milanga" und dass er es aufgegeben hat seine "Bilder zu deuten" und weiters "Meine zeit lebt von leerem Gerede u. gequatsche siehe Beuys usw." Spangenberg, 61.5 x 46.5 cm, stellenweise craqueliert, minimale Farbabplatzung Dieses Gemälde gehört wohl zum Frühwerk des Künstlers aus den 1920er/1930er Jahren. In dieser Zeit waren Spangenbergs Werke eher dunkel gehalten. Erst ab den 1930er Jahren griff der Künstler mehr zu bunteren und helleren Farben und wandte sich im Verlauf immer mehr von der gegenständlichen Malerei und der neuen Sachlichkeit ab.

Auf der Rahmenrückseite mit einem Etikett der Galerie Levy, Hamburg, dort datiert u. betitelt. Nach einigen Semestern an der Hamburger Kunstgewerbeschule unternahm Spangenberg Reisen, u.a. 1928 nach Paris. Anschließend ließ er sich als freischaffender Künstler in Hamburg nieder. - Im Passepartoutausschnitt gebräunt. Vereinzelte Randläsuren.
