Oil/fibre board. 53 x 70 cm. Lo. ri. sign. E. Spars. - German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist. He was taught by A. Illies at the Hamburger Kunstgewerbeschule in 1923 and worked as freelancer. With a scholarship he could continue his studies in Paris in 1930/31. He was mobbed by the Nazis and worked in Italy in 1936. View into a street on Montmartre with passers-by. 1931. oil/canvas with inclusion of the painting ground, bottom left signed and dated Eylert Spars 31, 50 x 60 cm, framed 62,5 x 73 cm.- Spars, who worked as a freelance artist, received a scholarship for a stay in Paris in 1930 through the mediation of the director of the Hamburg Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe and patron of the German Expressionists, Max Sauerlandt. In 1931 Spars exhibited at the Hamburg Kunstverein. Spars, Eylert. 1903 Hamburg - 1984 Seevetal. Blick in eine Straße auf dem Montmartre mit Passanten. 1931. Öl/Lwd. unter Einbeziehung des Malgrundes, u. li. sign. u. dat. Eylert Spars 31, 50 x 60 cm, ger. 62,5 x 73 cm.- Der als freischaffender Künstler arbeitende Spars erhielt 1930 durch Vermittlung des Direktors des Hamburger Museums für Kunst und Gewerbe und Förderers der Deutschen Expresionisten, Max Sauerlandt, ein Stipendium für einen Parisaufenthalt. 1931 stellte Spars im Hamburger Kunstverein aus.
