    After Josiah Boydell (English, 1752-1817). "The American Edition of Boydell's Illustrations of the Dramatic Works of Shakespeare, by the Most Eminent Artists of Great Britain" in two volumes, atlas folio, plates restored and published 1852 by Shearjashub Spooner (1809-1859), New York. The complete American printing after the original published in the late 18th century comprising two atlas folio size volumes containing a total of 100 engravings depicting scenes from the plays of William Shakespeare, the engravings created after paintings by such artists as Henry Fuseli, William Hamilton, Sir Benjamin West, Robert Smirke, James Northcote, and Sir Joshua Reynolds, and engraved by such artists as Robert Thew, and Thomas Ryder, Isaac Taylor. Each volume with quarter leather over marbled paper boards with gilt lettering. Period label to interior front cover of Volume 1 for E. Walker & Sons Binders, New York.
