    Otakar Stafl (1884-1945) Czech, Large Oil on Canvas Landscape. Large oil on canvas landscape of a barren mountain valley, a rainbow cutting through the dark clouds. Sighed lower right. Exhibition label verso. Unframed. Size: 43 1/2 x 58 in.  Otakar Stafl (1884–1945) was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist known for his detailed landscapes and depictions of the Tatra Mountains. Born in Havlíčkův Brod, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and gained recognition for his dramatic mountain scenes, which captured the rugged beauty of Central Europe. In addition to painting, he worked as a book illustrator and contributed to set design. Stafl and his wife perished in a bombing raid on Prague during World War II, but his works remain admired for their romantic and atmospheric quality. #5860
