RARE WALT KUHN ETCHING PLATE

Walt Kuhn (1877-1949) American artist. By now most of you know that we have most of what came from the Kuhn Estate that didn't end up in the collection of the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian, Washington DC [paintings & drawings not included]. So when you see letters, documents etc. on the market offered by others those items most likely came from our collection. Offered here is a rare Walt Kuhn etching plate. The title is ADVICE, etched in 1915, approx. 4-1/4 x 2-1/4 in. Now here is the important part that makes this so RARE. Firstly, less than 6 impressions were ever pulled from this plate. The 1967 exhibition of Kuhn prints held at the Kennedy Galleries in NY identified this in their catalog. Secondly, any time an etching plate is offered for sale, no matter who the artist is, that is very uncommon. Plate usually are defaced after they have been printed from. We owned all of Kuhn remaining etching plates. It is almost impossible to get a picture/scan that will show clearly. VG.
