    This 1960 work, according to the artist at the time the work was purchased, "depicts a low level supervisor in one of Detroit's auto manufacturing plants, after hiving lost his job, was now only the "manager" of the street corner where he and his dog passed their day'. Jack Steele's education at the Cranbrook Academy of Art was interrupted by WWII. After the war, Steele studied under Zoltan Sepeshy. He exhibited his work in the 1940's and early 1950's until he obtained a job as a modeler for the Ford Motor Company. While he continued to paint, he did not exhibit again until the early 1990's. This work was discovered in 1991 and later that decade purchased from the artist and exhibited at The Studio Gallery, Hamtramck, MI Provenance: The artist. The Studio Gallery, Hamtramck, MI.     Have We Done Everything We Came Here To Do? Narrated by Jack Steele Parker. Inscribed to 'Jack Reneau' and author signed. 2011. Self published. 207 pp. Illustrated. White covers. Measures 11.375 in. x 8.25 in. x .375 in. Provenance: Presenting the personal collection of Jack and Susan Reneau, two of the foremost contributors to the field of big-game hunting and record books. Jack worked for the Boone and Crockett Club as director of Big Game Records until his retirement. Additionally, he is a prolific writer and editor in the field with an excess of 60 B&C Club books. His education (MS in Wildlife Management) and vast experience merited his status as one of the foremost experts in his field. His wife Susan is also celebrated as an author and editor of 15 B&C Club books. She is famed in her journalism career with a total of 22 books on big-game hunting and American history. She also edited and produced more than 20 books on education and worked for many years as a host and producer of many radio shows. Susan's education (BS in Education and an MS in Business & Public Relations) and experience secured her respect in the field equal to her husband. Jack's collection includes thousands of books, most of which have been autographed by the authors and/or editors. The Reneau's have generously autographed the books they authored. What will also be available is a fine collection of railroad books belonging to Susan's grandfather (G. Murray Campbell) who headed the B&O Railroad until he retired in 1962 when the B&O railroad was sold. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs. We will charge for labor to pack and process based on actual time it takes, actual cost of materials used to pack and actual shipper charges that will include insurance and signature required. We generally use USPS and Fed Ex and compare the pricing between the two. Books maximum box size will be 14x14x14 inch or equivalent and will be shipped USPS Media Mail unless otherwise requested. We gladly will give shipping estimates prior to auction. Please make this request at least 24 hours prior to auction for our shipping department to respond. If your invoice is for multiple items, we will use our discretion on requiring the use of an outside shipper. We reserve the right to require an outside shipper on any item(s) in the auction even if not stated.

This painting depicts "the Battle of the Overpass" May 26, 1937, where labor organizers clashed with Ford Motor Company security at the River Rouge complex in Dearborn, Michigan. Circa 1938. Signed lower right, the panel measures 17 x 29 inches and the framed size is 22.5 x 34.5 inches.
