He did not attend an art school or academy, but received his artistic training as a private student of Georg Merkel. Thematically, he primarily devoted himself to landscapes and the working class environment, but also worked on Arcadian themes. In 1927 Steiner was given the opportunity to exhibit at the Hagenbund (Georg Ehrlich, Carry Hauser, Karl Hauk, Erwin Lang, Georg Merkel, Albert Reuss, Heinrich von Zügel, etc.) for the first time. Ten years later he became a member. Steiner dealt intensively with Cubism. Due to the modernist tendencies of his pictures, he was partially banned from exhibitions in 1938. After 1945 he continued his work as a member of the Vienna Secession and took part in several exhibitions at home and abroad. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation.       Heinz Steiner (1905 Wien - 1974 ebenda) /T/"Donauschiffer". Originaltitel Szenische Darstellung mit drei Donauschiffern beim Entladen eines ankernden Lastschiffs. Das 1956/57 entstandene Hauptwerk Steiners spiegelt dessen intensive Auseinandersetzung mit dem französischen Kubismus, insbesondere Fernand Légers, wider. Sein Stil ist durch eine straffe und starke Konturierung der kompakt wiedergegebenen Figuren sowie einer flächigen Stilisierung mit Staffelung der Tiefenebenen gekennzeichnet. Steiner schloss sich 1937 dem Hagenbund an und erhielt unter der NS-Herrschaft Malverbot; 1945 wurde er Mitglied der Secession. Werke Steiners befinden sich u. a. im Belvedere in Wien. Öl/Lwd.; Verso auf einem Klebezettel sign. u. betitelt; Atelier-Stempel mit Wiener Künstler-Adresse, überdies dat. 1956-57. 135 cm x 105 cm. Rahmen. Oil on canvas.
