Stokeld 1869’ Total dimensions, framed: 39 x 50 cm Very good condition The present watercolour drawing originates from the English artist James Stokeld. The artist leads the viewer into a heavily crowded polling station with numerous figure staffage. Stokeld depicts a naturalistic genre in his virtuous flow, with the typical note of English humour. They are following the election process, and some of them seem as if they want to consider the one or the other to place a different choice. The watercolour drawing is mounted on passe-partout in a suited Gold painted wooden frame. The sheet is signed with ‘J. Stokeld 1869‘, on the lower right. A sticker saying ‘A Polling Station in the North of England by James Stokeld (1827-1872) Signed and Dated 1869’, as well as a little biography of the artist is located on the reverse of the frame. The condition of the piece is very good. The passe-partout is slightly yellowed. The total dimensions framed are 39 x 50 cm, and the colour surface measures 20 x 31.5 cm.
