Born in 1978 in Poznan. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. Diploma in Artistic Education under the supervision of prof. Alicja Kepinska, and at the Multimedia Department under the supervision of prof. Piotr Kurek. Awarded the Art & Business monthly award. Laureate of the third edition of the scholarship program of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland "MLODA POLSKA" and the Art & business Award of the 8th Competition. Eugene Geppert. Her works can be found in private collections in Poland, Germany, the United States and Great Britain. She made her debut in Zderzak in 2005 with an individual exhibition "23 koany" . Zderzak released three important albums with the work of Monika Szwed: " Innocent Homes " (2006), " Frozen Charlie " (2007) and " Prace zebrane / Collected works 2003-2008 " (2008). Belongs to the trend of the New Surrealists.

Monika Szwed is one of the best artists using oil pastels in the world. It creates subtle, tasteful and precise works with economical coloring and multi-track narration. You can see in them the inspiration of Japanese graphics or drawings from fairy tales for children. Characteristic for her is drawing, metamorphosis of the painting, sophisticated color, Catholic themes and scenes from the borderline of sleep and reality as well as favorite motifs: children's toys and animals, historicizing and modernist architecture.
