      Jean Tabaud(1914-1996) French, Oil On Canvas. Titled "O DeTTe's" Signed in upper right. Framed in good condition with signs of wear on the frame and slight signs of wear on the canvas due to the age of the piece. Signed in the upper right. Jean Tabaud was born in 1914 on the west coast of France. Once a dancer, Tabaud's second career began while he was a prisoner of War drawing numerous portraits of fellow prisoners & German guards. After the fall of Germany he escaped Europe & in 1953 Tabaud moved to the United States. He began in Hollywood, where he was immediately successful, drawing portraits from such stars as Charles Boyer, Deborah Kerr, John Wayne, and others. Following several more critically acclaimed shows in LA and SF, Tabaud moved to NYC in 1957, where he established a portrait studio. Overall Size: 47 1/2 x 37 in. Sight Size: 39 x 29 1/2 in. #2178
