Kenzo Takekoshi (1888-1981) Japanese/American, Signed Copperplate Etching

    Est: $80 - $120

Kenzo Takekoshi (1888-1981) Japanese, Signed Copperplate Etching. Titled: "A Chinese Doorway". Titled lower left. Signed lower right. Copperplate etching of a figure standing in front of a traditional Chinese architectural doorway.  Condition: Commensurate with age.  Overall Size: 12 1/2 x 20 in. Sight Size: 4 3/4 x 10 in. Kenzo Takekoshi (1888–1981) was a Japanese-American artist, renowned for his mastery of etching and printmaking. Born in Japan, he was initially discouraged from pursuing art by his father, a successful businessman, who almost disowned him for his artistic aspirations. Despite this familial conflict, Takekoshi remained committed to his passion and studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He later moved to the United States, where he gained recognition for his intricate etchings that often depicted nature, landscapes, and cultural themes, blending traditional Japanese techniques with Western influences. His fine attention to detail and technical precision earned him widespread acclaim, and his works were exhibited extensively, establishing him as an important figure in the world of printmaking. #5814
