        American, 1903-1965 Untitled (Composition) Signed Nicholas Takis (ll) Oil on canvas 30 x 40 inches (76.2 x 101.6 cm) (Framed 32 7/8 x 43 inches) Some craquelure in areas throughout, with a few corresponding tiny paint losses. An area of paint lifting in the grey pigment at lower right. Surface soiling, would benefit from a cleaning. Frame rubbing with wear along the edges. Difficult to detect all restoration under UV, as some pigments appear to fluoresce, but some scattered spots of inpainting visible.

April 9, 1979 from Chicago Tribune featuring "Blue Shutters, 30x40, $6000" at a showing at Marshall Field reads: "See an exhibition and selling of works by Nicholas Takis (1903-64) at our State Street Store. This internationally renowned artist was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League and the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. A pioneer in American Expressionism, his oil paintings have been exhibited in several prominent museums, such as the Contemporary Art Gallery in New York, and in many private collections throughout the country. He's as "happy now as I ever was," with his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Takis, and son, Robert, he said. In addition, he's able to continue his art career. April 9, 1979 from Chicago Tribune featuring "Blue Shutters, 30x40, $6000" at a showing at Marshall Field reads: "See an exhibition and selling of works by Nicholas Takis (1903-64) at our State Street Store. This internationally renowned artist was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League and the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. A pioneer in American Expressionism, his oil paintings have been exhibited in several prominent museums, such as the Contemporary Art Gallery in New York, and in many private collections throughout the country. Come see this exciting collection now through May 9 in Fine Paintings - Second Floor, South Wabash."
