    A rare and scarce Rosenthal German porcelain group figurine. A figural group work titled "Zwei Seltsame" ("Two Strange Ones"). Produced circa 1923 in a whimsical style, designed by Austrian artist Otto Tauschek (1881-1971). Modeled as Pierrot clown and a Blackamoor figures, on a landscape form base with trees. ROSENTHAL SELB BAVARIA backstamp with gilt colorist signature SCHONENBERG to underside. Dimensions: 11.25 X 10 X 5 in. Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. One of the plates is chipped to the rim. Otto Tauschek (1881-1971) Otto Tauschek studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and then moved to Munich. Until 1910, he worked at the architectural office of modern space art at the Royal Furniture Factory Valentin Witt. He then worked as a freelance artist. From 1914 to 1915, he attended the Munich Art Academy under the guidance of Hugo von Habermann. From 1918 to 1926, Tauschek worked as a designer at the art department of the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal in Munich, where he gave also painting and drawing classes. After a stay in America, he worked again as a freelance painter and graphic artist in Munich. Since 1911, his graphics and oil paintings were exhibited almost every year at the Munich Glass Palace and later at the Haus der Kunst, as well. Ludwig Moser & SöhneLudwig Moser founded the Moser Company in 1857; it was originally an engraving facility and retail outlet, headquartered in Karlsbad. Thirty years later, around 1870, the company had grown substantially – there were now outlets in America, England, France and Russia. With the opening of their own glass factory in 1893, the company became so successful, that is was called to be royal purveyor to King Eduard VII and purveyor to the Persian Royal Court. The company was sold to the Česká Unionbanka in 1934 and continued work under German leadership. It was incorporated in 1991.
