Original advertising art of the 1955 Betty Crocker, (attrib. to) Hilda Grossman Taylor (American, 1891-1967). Oil on canvas with approximate canvas size of 24" x 20" x 3/4". This lot includes newspaper clippings. The painting is unframed. The approximate weight is 3 lbs. Note: In 1954, six artists were commissioned to paint the 1955 "Betty Crocker." The artists selected were: Hilda Taylor, Norman Rockwell and three other unknown artists. The paintings were shown to 1,600 women for selection by General Mills. They selected this image by Taylor. This painting was purchased in the mid-1990's online from a past employee of General Mills. Also told that Taylor painted a few copies, perhaps this is the original or one of her copies?
