      HOUDA TERJUMAN (Tangiers, 1970). "Memories", 2016. Technique mista, wood and acrylic. Methacrylate box. It presents a jump in the corner of the box. Size: 63 x 24 cm; 85 x 35 x 35 x 35 cm (box). Floating sculpture made with organic materials, in which the artist structures a whole series of elements that are arranged vertically, in such a way that they seem to float, but at the same time it also seems that these elements are rushing towards an unknown void. The work is crowned by a thing supported by a tree, whose branches cross the roof of the home. The tree is a recurring element in Terjuman's work, as for her it symbolises the longing for home. Houda Terjuman is a Swiss and Syrian visual artist. Her artistic practice encompasses paintings and floating sculptures that recall the language of surrealism and take us on a journey through the Middle East, Europe and Africa. Terjeman's work reflects her own multicultural experience. His work explores identity, displacement and stability. The search for home becomes a stressful and painful process that shows the connectivity and heterogeneity of our deterritorialised world. An example of this are; his floating sculptures Terjuman has exhibited widely and internationally since 2002, in solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, renowned international art fairs, as well as in prestigious museums and institutions such as L'Institut du Monde Arabe (Paris), the Musée d'Art Contemporain Mohammed VI (Rabat).Houda Terjuman's work is currently present in important private and public collections, including museums and institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the Musee d'Art Contemporain Mohammed VI in Rabat, the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto and the Imago Mundi Luciano Benetton Foundation.
