      May. 31, 2006

      PANOS TERLEMEZIAN, 1865-1941

      Est: £7,000 - £9,000

ARMENIAN MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE 46 by 81cm., 18 by 32cm., signed l.r. and dated 1908 oil on canvas NOTE Originally born in the city of Van, Panos Terlemezian studied Fine Art in Paris and graduated from the Academy Julian in 1904. His style, although tending towards Realism, accentuates the lyrical side of his landscapes. His depictions of Armenia reflect the artist's fondness for his homeland. However, it was this patriotism and belief in Armenian independence which led him to be imprisoned several times during his life.
