Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, Vintage Test Print from "Bride of Frankenstein"--Superb! A glossy black and white test print from "Bride of Frankenstein," the 1935 horror movie starring Boris Karloff (1887-1969) as Frankenstein's monster and Ernest Thesiger (1879-1961) as Dr. Septimus Pretorius, Henry Frankenstein's mentor, and the creator of the monster's bride. The photograph shows Dr. Pretorius pouring the contents of a test tube into a glass eagerly accepted by Frankenstein's monster. Stamped "Test Print and Caption Neg / Please leave with this Neg / that we may match when reprinting" over the white-coated figure of Dr. Pretorius. Serial numbers in stone appear in the lower left corner. Expected surface wear including minor scuffs, wrinkles, and water spots. Lightly pencil inscribed verso. Else near fine. 8" x 10." The "Bride of Frankenstein" resumed the story of "Frankenstein," the hugely popular horror movie directed by James Whale and released by Universal Pictures in 1931. Henry Frankenstein collaborates with Dr. Pretorius to create a suitable bride for Frankenstein's monster, but after she repudiates her spouse, Frankenstein's monster orchestrates a murder-suicide by imploding the laboratory. "Son of Frankenstein" would follow in 1939.
