b. 1935 -

Madigan was born in the Violet Valley area of the major pastoral lease, Mabel Downs Station, where she lived until her relocation to the Warmun community at Turkey Creek some years ago.

It was her profound love of her homelands and her interest in using the locally found ochres with provided the catalyst for her to become an internationally recognised traditional artist. Dreamtime stories abound in the Kija people's world and Madigan is never short of material to commit to canvas. When not painting or spending time with her large extended family, she and her husband, Bilinji, go hunting for goanna, wallaby, fish, or the sweet nest of the bush bee, 'Kay-Riny', the sugarbag.
