Background consists of what appears to be a lake, hills and clouds in the sky. Housed in a very ornate gilt wood frame that measures 10" by 8". Sight measurement of painting is 6 1/2" by 4 5/8". Both painting and frame in very good condition.

Thoren studierte Malerei in Brüssel und wurde in den 1860er Jahren in Paris ansässig. 1856/57 debütierte er mit großem Erfolg im Österreichischen Kunstverein, mit Vorliebe schilderte er Weidevieh, Pferde und Reiter. 1865 erhielt Otto v. Thoren den Auftrag Kaiser Franz Joseph I. zu Pferde zu malen, 1867 wurde das Reiterbildnis auf dem Salon präsentiert und Napoleon III. geschenkt. Vielfach beschickte er die Austellungen in Paris und Wien (inklusive der Weltausstellung 1873). Öl/Mahagonitafel.
