            Bison Bronze by Eric Thorsen (American b. 1967)

            This is an original work of art bronze sculpture titled, ”Bison” by Eric Thorsen dated 1997 and a limited number of 50/95. Eric Thorsen was born in Glasgow, Montana in 1967 to an American serviceman and a French citizen. He started his career carving fish from wood and by 24 won Best in World with his piece “Mystery of the Redd”. The lifelong Montanan soon moved to clay and bronze receiving awards from the C.M. Russel Auction, Society of Animal Artists, and Carl E. Akeley. His studio and gallery reside in Bigfork, Montana with his current Buffalo Bison sculptures being offered for $9,400.00. This example shows a wonderfully detailed work of a Great American Bison Buffalo Bull on the Montana Plains done in solid bronze and hand colored sitting on a wood piece with plaque marked by the artist. The edition appears to have been sold out and is no longer available. Truly a fantastic piece that is both striking, captures the nature of the American West and majesty of one of its most important creatures, the Bison. Measures 16”L by 6”W by 10.5”H.
