      Oil on panel Rudolph Thygesen (1880-1953) – Norwegian painter Monogrammed and dated ‘R. Th. 31‘ lower right, verso titled in pencil ‘Maria Magdalena’ and dedicated in red crayon ‘Til vor den Solodarsky Fra maleren og Frue’; several other notes probably by another hand Exhibition stamp ‘Utstillet Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, Nov 1935 Katalog No’ with handwritten addition "87" Dimensions: 31,3 x 41,2 cm Framed in wooden frame: 41,5 x 51 cm Provenance: Private collection, Sweden Decorative depiction of figures in stylized landscape  Condition: The painting is in good condition, consistent with age. Within the red tree on the right is a short, slight scratch visible. There is some slight rubbing on the edges of the panel and the corners are slightly bumped and with pinholes. The frame shows small signs of age and wear. Rudolph Thygesen (1880-1953) Thygesen first studied in Oslo with the Norwegian female artist Harriet Backer, Then he attended for a short period the Anton Ažbe School in Munich and studied then in Paris at the Académie Colarossi. 1919-1920 he was again in Paris and studied with André Lhothe. Inspired by the numerous movements in modern art, Thygesen changed his style from impressionist landscapes to harmonic and more decorative compositions. Thus he executed several frescoes and wall decorations. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. Auctionata charges the resale rights tax pursuant to Section 26 of the German Copyright Act (UrhG) towards the buyer in case of the sale of an original work of art or photography prior to 70 years having lapsed since the death of their creator.
