Casimiro Tomba (1857-Rome 1929) The move of the artistic club 1887 mixed technique on wood 199x205 cm - in frame 202.5x209 cm Signed and dated lower right "C. Tomba 1887" As Casimiro Tomba's memoirs testify, this is a very rare decorative element of the rooms of the artistic Club opened in 1887 by the Roman artists of the International Artistic Association in via Margutta 54 and solemnly inaugurated in the presence of the royal family. The decoration of the rooms was carried out by the Club members themselves (Guido Boggiani, Enrico Coleman, Filiberto Petiti). For the Japanese room, Casimiro Tomba created in collaboration with Gioacchino Pagliei two bas-reliefs, one depicting the Death of King Siphon and the other, presented here, in an ironic manner, The move of the artistic club from the old headquarters of Alibert, during which the artists they had traveled the few meters accompanied by the music of a piano placed on a cart and played by the painter Edoardo Navone.
