Troso' on the back Overall height: 55.5 cm Good condition Provenance: German private collection A charming representation of a lovely young lady The present life-size bust of a young beauty was created by Fernando Troso (1910-1990). In addition to his romantic paintings the Roman artist also created several sculptures of beautiful women. The girl's charming face and the curly hair are finely rendered. The lower part of the base is roughly chiseled. This creates a wonderful contrast between the smooth surface of the skin and the uneven surface of the base. The bust is in good condition. It is signed on the back 'F. Troso' inside a cartouche. The overall height is 55.5 cm. Fernando Troso (1910-1990) Fernando Troso learned the art of sculpture in the workshop of his father. At the age of seventeen he moved to Rome, where he worked as a stonemason. In 1928 he created his first bust, depicting Pope Pius XI. He showed his early paintings in an exhibition in Rome in 1934. Further exhibitions, mainly in Rome, followed. In 1956 Troso participated in the Venice Biennale. In his paintings, the artist often depicted pastoral world, defined by a nostalgia for the past. Troso's sculptures are characterized by a fine execution and feature his talent to render the human form. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
