    • Jean Davenall Turner, miniature painting "From Pocaterra"
      Nov. 28, 2021

Jean Davenall Turner, miniature painting "From Pocaterra"

      Est: $250 - $350

Miniature painting "From Pocaterra" signed Jean D. Turner. Jean Davenall Turner may be the daughter of John Davenall Turner. Jean lived in Calgary most of her life and from 1981 until 1992, Jean painted and sold her paintings on a full time basis and earned a living doing what she enjoyed. She painted mostly landscapes west and south of Calgary, and many of them were tiny. When Turner was 76, she was diagnosed with a debilitating disease and moved to Comox to be closer to family. She died in 2014. Mount Pocaterra is the unoffical name of a rocky formation named after the Pocaterra Creek in the same region. It is located in the Elk Range in Alberta. This peak is located on the crest of a ridge, about 1.5 km north of the lower Mount Tyrwhitt. The peak is a double summit, with the north summit slightly higher.
