    Elisabeth Turolt (Zuckmantel 1902-1966 Vienna) Horse, c. 1954, dark patinated bronze, height 36 x 36 x 30 cm, the right hindleg damaged, (K) Between 1915 and 1918 Elisabeth Turolt studied with Norbertine Bresslern-Roth at the Landeskunstschule in Graz and with Zicek at the Vienna Academy. In 1923 she was a student of Karl Sterrer. She was self-taught as a sculptor, working in wood, stone, sheet iron, bronze, and ceramics. Member of the Hagenbund. She was forbidden to work under the Nazi regime. Chief works: Negro Mother (stoneware) for the Howard University in Washington; Water Buffalo and Boy (stoneware) for the City of Vienna; Bar (stoneware) for the City of Vienna; Accordionist (cement) for the City of Vienna; Juvenile Shepherd (stone) for the City of Linz.
