        **Originally Listed At $300** Engraver: Jerome Vallet (French, 1677-1722), ca. 18th century. A large-scale engraving delineated in the Neoclassical style by French engraver Jerome Vallet. The composition includes (4) a depiction of the baths begun under Constantine the Great and completed under Constantine's son and grandson and (5) a procession of armed soldiers, camels, and a stag or deer (far right) following the goddess Diana (would have been on following page) adored by Scythians. The engraving is set in a black matte with a cellophane window protecting the image. Size of visible engraving: 14.625" L x 19.25" W (37.1 cm x 48.9 cm) Size of matte: 24.75" L x 29.5" W (62.9 cm x 74.9 cm) The eldest son of engraver Guillaume Vallet, Jerome Vallet was a French engraver who became a member of the Academie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. In addition, he was bestowed the title of "Dessinateur et Graveur Ordinaire du Roi" (draftsman and ordinary engraver of the king) on August 26, 1702. Similar examples by Jerome Vallet may be found in the collection of the British Museum.
