Here in the title variant without "Cum" (VD17). The work is divided into 3 parts: "Der Toden-Tanz", "Underschiedliche Todts-Gattungen" and "Der Verdambten Höllen-Peyn/vorstellend". The title ‘Die Haubtstadt Laybach in dem Hertzogthumb Crain’ can be found in the middle of the engraving. The view shows the buildings and adjourning landscape of Laybach with great attention to detail. The dedication to the major Richter is carried out in the shape of a banner that is held up by a group of putti. Along the upper edge, there are three further framed image fields, which show three different views of the town. The copper engraving is titled and dated in the plate ‘Die Haubtstadt Laybach in dem Hertzogthumb Crain 1681 dediciert Johann Weichard von Valvasor‘. It consists of two joined sheets and is laid down on cardbaord. The print shows signs of age and wear. Besides the folding creases the sheet is stained and toned, especially on the lower edge some water stains affect the presentation. The wooden frame is slightly bumped on the corners. The framed engraving measures 101 x 36 cm while the dimensions of the print are 28 x 94 cm. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
