A hand colored outlined pictorial map of the world on Mercator projections with topographical relief shown pictorially by cartographer Hendrik Willem Van Loon. Note the lovely illustrations including: sun at left, crescent moon in the center, compass rose at lower center, and an inscription at the lower right that reads, "This map of the world is drawn according to the projection of Gerard Kremer or Gerardus Mercator, by his good neighbor. Thanks, Hendrik Van Loon 21/5 XXXII". Below the map is a beautiful drawing of an Old World European landscape (right) across the seas from a New World landscape of the Americas (left). Set in a charming period frame under glass. Two small pieces of tape to top edge, and some scattered light creases and wrinkles, otherwise fine condition.
