Floris van Schooten, A Fruit Still Life with a Boy

        Est: €15,000 - €20,000

Floris van Schooten was active throughout the entire first half of the 17th century and the early Haarlem still life painter had a major influence on this genre in the Netherlands. The present work is a characteristic still life showing a variety of fruit arranged in valuable containers on a broad table top. The additive composition of the individual elements of the image is typical of Schooten's style, and like many of his other works this still life is also enlivened by a figure who reaches for the fruit.
