Tania Vartan Sold at Auction Prices

In the 1970's Tania Vartan was a fashion designer on seventh avenue in New York. She designed all the fabrics for her dresses and has brought these same prints back today as furnishing fabrics. They are sold by Savel Inc, New York, Bradley-USA in Chicago and Atlanta, Ken Kehoe Showroom in Houston and DeCiocchio Showroom in Ohio. She also has a book about her work as a Memoir of the Decorative Arts from 1970 to 2011, sold by Rizzoli in New York.

Since 1981 Tania has produced award winning murals and trompe l'oeil in the U.S., France, Italy and England.Her first commission was from the late great designer, Mark Hampton, with whom she worked for 2 years. Ms. Vartan has lifesize murals on permanent exposition in the Smithsonian Institute in Washinton, DC.; they depict interiors in the White House circa 1902 and were painted for the inauguration of President George Bush , Sr.

Among private and public commissions in Europe and England, Ms. Vartan executed the lobby of the famous hotel, La Voile d'Or in St. Jean Cap Ferrat, France as well as Alain Ducasse's first restaurant/auberge in Moustier. At that time her work was exhibited in galleries and museums in Southern France.

Tania has lectured extensively in four countries on the history of mural painting and has held many workshops in France. While in Florence, Italy, she had an Academy of Decorative Painting for some years. She has participated in numerous Showcase Houses and Trade Fairs here and abroad, and her work can be seen in several books on Design and decorative painting.
