Petre Velicu is a Romanian Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1950.

Painter of the imaginary, Petre Velicu opens the doors of a strange world. There, one meets all the characters of his personal mythology: hieratic gladiators, medieval warriors, birds of the unknown, knights bound for the crusades. He is a graduate of the Beaux Arts of Bucharest, who moves in his own symbolic fantasy world. As if by magic, he brings this world to into our contemporary life. The Romanian artist has been living for years in Paris and has caught the attention of collectors in search of new talents.

'Painting, for me, is a never ending series of revelations which preserves the entire charm and mystery of the world. Thus, my artistic periplus goes into a fortunate concurrence with the magic realism, which through the generosity of its vision of the world envisages Maria: and reaches the climax of the human imagination. Eliade, Cioran and Ionesco -- three sources of authentic artistic and philosophical inspiration have fertilized my personality. Today my canvases are reunited in the cycle "Fleuve" flow one from another with no beginning, with no end.'
