Als Künstler war Cornelis Visscher kaum länger als ein Jahrzehnt lang tätig. In diesem kurzen Zeitraum schuf er annähernd 200 Porträtstiche und zahlreiche Zeichnungen. Arnold Houbraken hob in seiner 1718 erschienenen "Groote Schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen" hervor, dass Visscher bereits von seinen Zeitgenossen für seine Studien vom lebenden Modell bewundert wurde. Extremely charming hand studies observed on the model by the important portrait draughtsman and graphic artist Cornelis Visscher. He was active as an artist for barely more than a decade. During this short period, he created almost 200 portrait engravings and numerous drawings. In his "Groote Schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen", published in 1718, Arnold Houbraken emphasised that Visscher was already admired by his contemporaries for his studies of living models.
