    Antonie Volkmar, Damenportrait Halbfigurenbildnis einer auf einer Chaiselongue sitzenden jungen Frau, ein Buch in der Hand haltend, im schwarzen Kleid mit weißem Spitzenbesatz, im Halbprofil, fein lasierende, akademische Portraitmalerei mit wenigen pastosen Effekten, Öl auf Leinwand, links signiert und datiert "A. Volkmar 1871", Craquelure, doubliert, gering restauriert, schön im Goldstuckrahmen gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 87 x 73,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: eigentlich Antonie Elisabeth Cäcilie Caroline Levy, 1839 Übertritt zum Christentum und wie ihr Vater Annahme des Namens "Volkmar", dt.-jüdische Genre- und Portraitmalerin (1827 Berlin bis 1903 Berlin), Tochter des Berliner Bankiers Moritz Daniel Levy (ab ca. 1837 "Volkmar"), ab 1848 Schülerin von Julius Schrader, 1853–57 Weiterbildung bei Léon Cogniet in Paris, anschließend als Malerin in Berlin freischaffend, unterhielt in Berlin ein Damenmalatelier mit mehreren Schülerinnen, 1859 frühe Förderin des jungen Max Liebermann, 1862–64 Aufenthalt in Italien, beschickte 1850–80 die Berliner Akademieausstellung und ab 1855 die Königsberger Kunstausstellung, 1867–80 Mitglied des Vereins der Künstlerinnen und Kunstfreundinnen in Berlin, tätig in Berlin, Quelle: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Boetticher, Müller-Singer, Seubert, Müller-Klunzinger, Kataloge Berliner Akademieausstellung, "Käthe, Paula und der ganze Rest" und Wikipedia.
