      Eva Watson-Schutze (1867-1935) platinum photograph of girl with terrier, signed in the print upper right corner. Framed. Size: 7.75'' x 6'', 20 x 15 cm (sight); 19.75'' x 15'', 50 x 38 cm (frame). Watson-Schutze was one of only two women photographers in Alfred Steiglitz's Photo-Secession group. Watson-Schutze originally proposed the idea of an exhibiting group of photo-pictorialists to Steiglitz. Watson-Schutze studied and worked for several years in Philadelphia, studying under Thomas Eakins at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. After her marriage, she moved to Chicago, but came to New York City and joined the art colony at Byrdcliffe, near Woodstock, New York. She has been the subject of exhibitions and publications.
