S.B. Waugh Oil on Canvas Portrait

Samuel Bell Waugh (American, 1814-1884) oval shaped painted portrait of the Marquise de San Carlos de Pedroso; signed to the lower center S.B. Waugh. The subject is the daughter of the historic and influential Macalester family of Philadelphia. Mounted in an ornate period gilt frame which measures approximately 30" high and 25" wide. It is our recommendation that all pieces be examined in person by perspective clients or a dealer they have asked to give them a condition report. Samuel Bell Waugh (American, 1814-1884) is known as one of the most famous portrait painters of Philadelphia. He was also known for his Italian panoramas, most of which he created during an eight-year stay in Italy.
