      • Webb, Boyd: Billet Doux (Yellow Dasies)
        Dec. 04, 2013

Webb, Boyd: Billet Doux (Yellow Dasies)

        Est: €200 - €400

"Billet Doux (Yellow Dasies)". Chromogenic print on Agfa Professional paper. 1997. 40 x 60 cm (image); 59,5 x 79 cm (paper). Signed, titled, dated and numbered 14/180 in black pen on the verso. Boyd Webb studied at the Ilam School of Art in Christchurch from 1968 to 1971 and from 1972 to 1975 at the Royal College of Art in London, where he settled. Though trained as a sculptor, he chose to work with photography, concentrating on realistic scenes with curious details and odd juxtapositions of objects. He developed his mature style in the 1980s, creating mysterious and elaborate photographic compositions from constructed sets built by the artist in his studio, without resorting to trick photographic techniques. Works by the artist have been exhibited both in the UK and abroad and are part of many private and public collections such as the collection of the British Council and the Tate collection. He represented New Zealand in the Sydney Biennale in 1995. Framed.
