    • Weber-Fülop, Elisabeth: Blick in den Salon eines Kunstsammlers
      Jun. 08, 2023

Weber-Fülop, Elisabeth: Blick in den Salon eines Kunstsammlers

      Est: €2,000 - €2,400

Blick in den Wiener Salon eines Kunstsammlers. -- Öl auf Leinwand. 70 x 91 cm. Unten rechts signiert "E. -- - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.

Weber-Fulop / New York lower right LOT NOTES Elizabeth Weber-Fulop was born in 1886 in Budapest and raised by adoptive parents in Vienna, where she began formally studying art with Ludwig Milcek. Weber-Fulop then went on to study art at the Académie Colarossi in Paris, later studying under Jacques Emil Blanche and Lucian Simon. Even early in her career, Weber-Fulop exhibited in Budapest, Zurich, Milan, and Paris before relocating to Charleston, South Carolina and, later, Memphis, Tennessee. In Memphis, Weber-Fulop was commissioned to create portraits of several notable public figures, including the then-mayor Edward Hull “Boss” Crump. Weber-Fulop was known not only for her portraiture, but for her lavish interior scenes, leading her to be called upon to paint such important sites as the Armor Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
