After a longer peregrination August Wedeking, who was trained as a decorative and portrait painter in Munich, returned to his home city of Bremen in 1831 where he worked mainly as a portrait painter. Our photo shows his new 3-story commercial building, which he opened in 1849 (am Wall 74a), with the shop sign Photographisches Atelier von Wedeking and a smaller sign Porträtmaler u.
