題識：鈐印：楊文聰印、龍友藏印：公、丹誠、真賞、信公珍賞、珍藏書畫之印款識：庚辰春日畫於半閣，楊文聰。說明：耿昭忠舊藏。耿昭忠（？~1686），字在良，號信公，漢軍正黃旗人。清初「三藩」之一、靖南王耿繼茂次子。擅文章，工藝事，善鑒別。今世流傳之宋、元名跡，其上每有耿氏藏印。楊文驄年少時便心懷壯志，學兼文武，萬曆末期舉於鄉，但其後屢試不中。直到年近中年時期，他才謀得江甯知縣一職，但不久又被劾罷官，無奈落魄江湖，縱情山水，失意之餘，遂盤桓于秦淮風月場中。秦淮內河的南京異常繁華，從東水關到西水關長達十裡，徹夜燈船，盡笙歌。此時的楊文驄不僅將滿腔壯志寄託於山水之中，也縱情在十裡桃花之中。這也便有了他以扇血點染桃花的韻事，正如薑實節為楊文驄題畫時那句「記否桃花留扇底，一回首處一消魂」。清初吳偉業在《畫中九友歌》中讚揚了明末清初九位畫家，分別是董其昌、楊文驄、程嘉燧、張學曾、卞文瑜、邵彌、李流芳、王時敏、王鑒。明末清初的山水畫以董其昌為主導，以南北宗論為理論基礎，崇南抑北，以南宗清幽淡遠之風為畫家正脈。吳偉業認為明末清初畫中九友在畫壇中占主流地位，而這些畫家也對清代宮廷繪畫產生了重要的影響。楊文驄在畫中九友中獨樹一格，筆墨蒼潤樸茂而有瀟散簡遠之致。有宋人之骨力去其結，有元人之風雅去其佻，出入巨然、惠崇之間。從《村居圖》中可以看出，其山水畫境界與格調俱佳，壯烈而不失平和，夷曠而中存莊雅。平遠清和的畫面，以淡墨表達情懷，用幹筆渲染意境，寥寥數筆便有萬象。遠山以墨色的變化表現自然之浩渺，中景施幹筆描繪山石間的雲霧繚繞，近景樹石屋舍則大筆落墨形成強烈的對比，虛實之間氣象萬千。縱觀《村居圖》，畫家總是在留白處給觀者更多的想像空間，雖筆簡墨淡，卻在虛空中得見無窮。《村居圖》雖是一件小品，但不失為一件楊文驄繪畫的精品。無論從筆、墨、境、情各個方面都可謂是精妙絕倫。不僅如此，此作也經清初耿昭忠所藏。耿昭忠（？-1686），字在良，號信公，漢軍正黃旗人，原籍山東，後徒遼東蓋州（今屬遼寧）。清初「三藩」之一、靖南王耿繼茂次子。耿昭忠擅文章，工藝事，善鑒別。旁及書法、繪事、琴、弈、簫、築、醫、筮、蒲博之類，往往精詣。今世流傳之宋、元名跡，其上每有耿氏藏印。其子耿嘉祚，字會侯，號漱六主人，也是著名文物收藏家。故此，《村居圖》當為一件楊文驄流傳有序的精品之作，今在市場上得以見到實屬難得。
