Unique large-format vintage gelatin silver print on photo canvas. 35,5 x 48 cm. Mounted to grey board (56,5 x 70 cm), signed, titled and dated by the photographer in pencil below the image on the mount; titled and dated by the photographer in pencil on mount verso. - - Kurt Wendlandt, a versatile artist in painting, printmaking, photography, writing, and illustration, emerged as a highly creative figure in postwar West Germany. After studying at the State Academy of the Arts from 1937 to 1943 and briefly pausing his artistic work due to a war injury, he resumed his creative journey after World War II. In 1958, he began experimenting with transparent materials, leading to his first Lichtgraphiken, and his close friendship with Heinz Hajek-Halke positioned them at the forefront of Berlin's avant-garde "Lichtgraphik" movement during the 1960s.       "Colmars Nachtlied" -- Lichtgraphik auf Leinwand, koloriert, auf Unterlagekarton montiert. -- 41 x 5 cm (50 x 60 cm). -- Unten rechts mit Kugelschreiber in Schwarz monogrammiert "KW", verso betitelt und mit dem schwarzen Copyright-Stempel des Künstlers, auf dem Unterlagekarton mit Kugelschreiber in Schwarz signiert "Kurt Wendlandt", betitelt und bezeichnet "Ossian / Lichtgrafik handkoloriert". Auflage 8 num. Ex. -- -- Kurt Wendlandt studierte 1937-43 an der Staatlichen Hochschule für bildende Künste und war 1940-44 auf allen Großen Deutschen Kunstausstellungen in München vertreten. Ursprünglich Fotograf begann er mit vielfältigen transparenten Materialien, wie z.B. Filmmaterialien, zu experimentieren. Er entdeckte die Kombinationsmöglichkeit von Filmcollagen mit Plexiglas, welches farbige Raumvorstellungen ermöglicht, und entwickelte ab 1958 erste Lichtgraphiken, Décollagen, Leuchtbilder, diaphane Reliefs und plastische Leuchtwände. Since his studies at the State Academy of the Arts 1937-43, his artistic development was continuously interrupted, also due to a war injury. After the war, he finally was able to work again, and he began experimenting with many transparent materials; in 1958, he produced his first Lichtgraphiken. Heinz Hajek-Halke was a close friend, and both artitsts were part of the avantgarde "Lichtgraphik" scene of Berlin in the 1960s. Because Wendlandt neglected his commercial promotion, his photographs are hardly known. Mounted to white and brown board (39,7 x 43 cm), signed, titled and dated by the photographer in pencil below the image on the mount. - - The German painter, printmaker, photographer, author and illustrator Kurt Wendlandt was among one of the most creative artists of postwar West Germany. Since his studies at the State Academy of the Arts 1937-43, his artistic development was continuously interrupted, also due to a war injury. After the war he finally was able to work again, and he began experimenting with many transparent materials; in 1958 he produced his first Lichtgraphiken. Heinz Hajek-Halke was a close friend, and both artitsts were part of the avantgarde "Lichtgraphik" scene of Berlin in the 1960s. Because Wendlandt neglected his commercial promotion, his photographs are hardly known. Kurt Wendlandt war als Maler, Graphiker, Illustrator, Photograph und Autor über viele Jahrzehnte künstlerisch in Berlin tätig und gehörte zu den kreativsten Künstlern in den Nachkriegsjahren West-Deutschlands. 1958 entstand seine erste Lichtgraphik mit Hilfe von Filmmaterialien. Mit diesen Arbeiten gehörte er in den 1960er Jahren, zusammen mit seinem engen Freund Heinz Hajek-Halke, zu der Avantgarde-Szene "Lichtgrafik" in Berlin. - Trägerkarton mit kleineren Randläsuren, Lichtgraphik sehr gut erhalten.
