    Zelda Werner (American, 1915 - 1999), Brutalist style figural sculpture, painted plaster, signed and dated on right side of base "Z.W. Werner, 1966". A Brutalist figural sculpture depicting a male standing behind a seated woman and raised on a black painted wood base. Approximate height 24.37", base width 14", base depth 12.5". Note: Zelda Werner graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a master's of fine arts degree in 1971 and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. She achieved international recognition for pioneering work in sculpture and was among the founders of the Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts. Her work is displayed in many corporate collections, including those held by First National Bank of Chicago, Borg-Warner Corp. and KPMG Peat Marwick, as well as the State of Illinois' collection. Among her public commissions are works in the Indianapolis Capital Commons Plaza and the Winnetka Public Library. Her large acrylic sculpture "Widmung" was placed in the lobby of the Steans Young Artists Institute at Ravinia Park in 1992.
