Westall, vol. 1 & 2 with subtle repaired tear to foot of title without text loss, plates with some very small nicks or puncture-marks to fore-margin, few small marginal stains, occasional spotting or foxing, mainly to first few ff., offsetting, attractively bound in half calf over marbled boards by Bickers & Son, spines gilt, some light spotting to calf, slight wear to some corners, rubbing to spines and extremities, small 8vo, for J. Booker [& others], 1825.   ⁂ Westall's illustrations for the Arabian Nights were first published in 1819, the plates present in these volumes also dated 1819 in the imprint.

    Richard Westall RA (1765-1836) The young David and King Saul oil on canvas 72 x 52cm Condition Report: Overall: 81 x 61cm The painting is executed in oil on canvas which has been lined. The canvas tension is stiff and the picture is in plane. The paint layers are in a good, stable condition overall. Small areas of overpaint are well matched to the original. The varnish is clear, even and matte. The painting is comprised by a thick layer of surface dirt which has a smeary appearance following an attempt at cleaning, the dirt has partially affected the varnish layers below.
