        This original vintage poster was commissioned by the Olympic Organizing Committee to promote the Winter Olympic Games held in Lake Placid in 1980. The renowned American graphic artist, Dennis Wheeler, was commissioned to design the poster. This image features figure skater Linda Fratiani, who won three consecutive U.S. Championships and the silver medal in the 1980 games. That same year, the underdog American Hockey Team won the Olympic Gold Medal in the famed "Miracle on Ice." This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster was printed on heavyweight paper and is in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

A copy resides in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

In 1962 Dennis Wheeler began working at Life Magazine, and a year later began creating these ads embodying the recognizable Life logo in dramatic graphic forms. Wheeler's images garnered many prestigious awards, including the 31st Annual Outdoor Exhibit, sponsored by the Art Director's Club of Chicago, in 1963. this is the first time Wheeler's work has appeared at auction.
